The parish church of Holy Trinity is medieval, Quaternary flint with chalk and Lincolnshire Limestone dressings, with slate, tile and lead roofs. The tower is 13th century, embattled, of four stages, with angle buttresses, and it has two-light bell-openings. Roofs of the restorations of 1854 and 1886. South of West Runton Common stands Hillside, a brick and cobble house of probably the early to mid 19th century under a black glazed pantiled roof, with a coursed cobble front with galleting in mortar and a rendered extension at the south end with a round-headed opening. West Runton stands on the A149 North Norfolk coast road, 2 1/2 miles west of Cromer and 1 1/2 miles east of Sheringham. The railway station opened in September 1887 and stands 28 miles 55 chains down the Bittern Line from Norwich, between Cromer and Sheringham. It is one of two Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway stations still in use on the National Rail network, Cromer being the other.
There was no substantial development here until the 1920s, and by the Second World War there were new estates of houses on the east and west sides. Casement windows are common across those estates. Older again is Wood End, dated 1817 within the gable.
