The Old Granary on Staithe Road is a wherry granary, now a private house, dated 1808 and restored in 1977 by Anthony C. Adcock, brick with a pantile roof. The staithe runs underneath the building to form wherry bays, the floor beams carried on arched braces. At the parish church of St Mary the Virgin it is flint with ashlar dressings and slate roofs, the aisles leaded. In 1886 the chancel roof was renewed and raised, the nave roof restored and a vestry erected. Pantile, slate and leaded roofs of this kind, from the wherry bays at the granary on Staithe Road to the aisles at St Mary the Virgin, are the coverings we work on.
Stalham railway station opened on 3 July 1880 and closed on 2 March 1959, on the line between Melton Constable and Great Yarmouth. Its buildings were dismantled and rebuilt at the new Holt station on the North Norfolk Railway.
